    Berchtesgaden Postcard

Is this a picture of Haus Wachenfeld or another home?

    Thanks.

I think it is Haus Wachenfeld.

Sorry Gerdan, but I believe it to be Landhaus Göring -- see Geoff Walden's site at www.thirdreichruins.com/bormgoer.html. The postcard photo is a common one from pre-war Hoffmann publications. Haus Wachenfeld didn't have the kind of sloping lawn and view of the house shown here.

It's not Landhaus Göring. It's a well known photo and the house is identified, but I cannot remember which it is. I'll try and dig out the correct one and come back to this thread.

Just remembered.....it's been identified as the Dietrich Eckart house.
Here it is a couple of years ago with some changes.

You're quite right, Max, it is Eckarthaus. If I'd kept looking through Geoff Walden's site I would have eventually come to the very photo that initiated this thread; it's under the "Other Berchtesgaden Area Buildings" subsection, as well as a modern photo similar to the one you posted.

Getting old is ... I already forgot!
