.....I am going to post a picture of the same man in picture #1. This picture that I am posting is of the same man. If you look at both pictures you will be able to determine, as I did, that the face from the picture that I am posting has been put onto the body in picture #1. There could be several reasons for this. I don't at this time know what the reasons might be, I can only speculate. This is not to say that it was done without the soldier being aware of it.

I can say this, however: according to his book, he earned the awards that are attributed to him in picture #1. You can see MOST of those awards on his uniform tunic in the picture here, that I am posting. The picture I am posting was taken, again according to the book, early in the year of 1944.

I would say that he was a very brave soldier, that saw a lot of combat during his time ( the entire war ) on the Eastern front.

I hope that this clears things up for everyone.

Fully agree with Bruce : a real frontkampfer (see the DKiGto quote just one example).
The first pic posted by François is definitively customized (see TDB, head smaller than chest....) though.

As I said on the 1st thread, these pics were scanned in various books, except Brandner and Müller which were sent to me and dedicated by the owner themselves.
The first pic is issued from the book : "Und litt an meine seite" from Gottlob herbert Bidermann (the man of the pic). May be The pic was postwar retouched,(effectively the head seems to have been added) I can't say, but this man got all these badges (document are presented on the book). Is somebody has an embroidered kurland band type worn to show us? or other pics than mine ?
