                    Kurland pictures in wear

                    Hello,

Thanks for showing these Jaques ( and Francois ) , i do not have any in my possesion but just want to make a little remark .

Regarding the first picture you show that is certainly a picture that is taken after the war => note this man does not wear the eagle on his tunic ( hoheitsabzeichen ) , also note the sloppy way the tank destruction badge + the Krimschield is attached .

In my humble opinion that picture can not be used ( or at least i would not use it ) to study variants, etc .. from the Kurland cufftitle, due to the above given reasons and the possibility of a private purchase piece after the war in this case !!!

                    Otherwise great pictures.

                    Friendly greetings,
my collectionfield : German glider pilots

That photo #6 that François posted is great! Not just the dual Kurland/Afrika titles but a numbered Schlachtflieger clasp too. Trés cool!

                        Concerning image #1.....

                        ..........Hi Stijn,

The image that you make reference to is of Gottlob Herbert Bidermann the author of the book In Deadly Combat.

Hauptmann Bidermann was imprisoned in the Soviet Union for 1,085 days. After his release he returned to Germany.

Actually, I have been comparing this photo with the one in his book and it looks as if this photograph has been altered. Look very closely at the neck area of the photo. The head shot is identical to the one in his book.

                        Hope that is useful.

                        --------------------

Holy Cow Francois, is there anything you don't have? It is almost as if the entire German military force came through your town and dropped off everything they owned. You are one great reference! I've got to say I am jealous.

                            Richard,
The pics are posted for my friend Jacques, they are not mines, but thanks for the kind words

                              Hello,

I also concern to the first photo I am of the opinion that the man that is made to photograph has applied some badges for the photo.

Its position and its face are not expressions of a brave suffered veteran of war!

                              All the best

                              Ivan
