Maybe some additional clues can help. I am sure the first number of his unit number on his shoulder is a ´1´. Below a scan of the back. Maybe his name can be deciphered from this.
The printing on the back states 1942, but the writing seems to suggest that the photo was taken while on leave during 1940. So this is probably a later reprint from the original negative (perhaps a re-order at the photography studio, after his initial batch was all given out to friends, relatives, and admirers).
So, this man was an early recipient of the RK, probably in the 1940 Western Campaign. He's an infantry officer, based on his IAB and white Waffenfarbe. I don't have the right list handy, but there must be something out there that lists RK recipients chonologically, so that we can narrow down who this is.
