KM Feldpost with named vessel sticker instead of stamp?

I asked this question also in the translation thread but perhaps it's better to also ask it in general to get more viewers with hopefully an answer to my question.

Just received this card today from a Matrose (if I read his rank correct correct) from Panzerschiff Deutschland and I noticed there's no stamp but instead a named sticker from the Panzerschiff Deutschland. Was this common in the kriegsmarine to stamp Feldpost with a named sticker from the ship were they were serving? This is my first KM Feldpost so this card made me wonder about this and I don't have anything else to compare with...yet.

No postage stamp was necessary to have mail pass through the feldpost mail system. The vignette was a private purchased item the sender could affix to the piece of mail itself.
