    SS Poster Help

I have a question for everyone on a poster that I cannot figure out. A poster house has asked me to see if I can authenticate this but it's a tough one to tell from just photos, although from the evidence so far it does not look good.

I'll list out the for and against reasons we have so far but maybe someone has seen this version somewhere else. It was sold by a well known dealer - if anyone knows who it is I would ask they keep it quiet at this point out of respect for all concerned.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Against
The poster house has done a microscope examination of the printing style and say it is not one that was used in the 1940's.

It has no white border with the SS Head Office printing details like other originals I have seen.

the poster house also believes the paper is not from the 1940's although it does not glow under a black light..

Personally I have never seen one without a border (although this might have been trimmed off) or the black text at the base with the recruiting office overprint. Could be a variant - anything is possible.

    For
About the only thing positive is the artwork appears to be an exact duplicate of the original.

This first one is an original with the printers details on the white border.

    This is the suspect one.

It does not look right, that is period, to me. A bit too shiny and fresh.

Since you have opened for comments I hope it is alright to point out some things. As I have stated before, I don't collect SS posters in particular, but rather WW2 propaganda posters in general, so please bear with me. It does however mean I have seen quite a number of period posters.
Nor I can conclude anything from the pictures, so first of all, is it possible to get more pictures and of the backside as well?
The very brittle paper with strange "cracks" strike me as unusual. I don't think I have seen that before. Kind of looks like an oil painting, but I don't know really.
What's with the upper right corner by the way? Is the poster mounted onto cardboard, or has this appeared because the paper is thick. Then I would most certainly say I agree with the auction house that the paper is not period, unless it is some kind of window board made in cardboard.

Point out everything you like mate. It's all appreciated.

It is mounted on cardboard which the poster house (also a restorer) did not remove yet.

I can get more photos of the back and some of their microscope photos as well.

The cracks do look strange to me as well. My copy - the first one) has some creases from someone rolling it up and it's been hit at the side when rolled but has not developed those strange cracks/creases like the other.

A little late to the game, but notice on the first poster how the headline color subtly shifts from off-white (yellow?) to white.

On the suspect poster, the headline is just one solid color throughout.

I see your point. It might just be the lighting on the photos. I'll have to dig my one out and have a closer look at it.
