    Gray Panzer Berets?!

If there ever was such a thing as gray panzer berets, this is proof!
    Were these common?

Also note the 2 Feldgendarmerie men, who seem to be shooing away the photographers!

Gray beret is usually found with StuG soldiers. The two guys are riding on a Sd.Kfz.252, ammo carrier for StuG units.

There's also a picture of one in "Field uniforms of German army panzer forces in world war 2" by Pruett and Edwards. They state that unissued stocks of these grey berets were issued to panzerwerfer crews when these units were raised late in the war. There are also several pictures of them in use in "Panzer in Finland" by Kuusela where a single panzerwerfer batterie was added to nebelwerfer abteilung 11.

So could the men in your picture belong to a panzerwerfer unit?

            Panzerwerfer!
Would that be Mobile Infantry vehicles with rockets on the sides of them?

Panzerwerfer units did use gray beret. Most often you see them operating armored Opel Maultier with 15cm Nebelwerfer.

But your photo is certainly from one of the StuG units, with which 205 Division operated.

Now I am wondering what the SdKfz is pulling?
                Maybe a separate Nebelwerfer?

It's a Sonderanhänger 32, which carries more 7,5cm ammunition for StuGs. NOT a Nebelwerfer unit, 120%.

                      Nice one, Jean-Yves!

Here's one from Panzeraufklärer unit (the same series as one I posted on Eric's Beret thread).

Forgot to mention to Karl that certainly gray beret is not common, good to have one in your collection!

You can sell your photo freely, and in fact selling is an important part of our hobby, but if you have an intention of selling your ware, I would appreciate it if you mention it in your message, thanks.
