Well now you know exactly who the bodies are
Chef de char : Lieutenant Duhourceau
Pilote : Caporal chef Duranton
Radio : S/Lieutenant Mathieu
Aide pilote : Chasseur Merger
2e Aide pilote : Chasseur Derrider
Makes you think just a little more when you can put a name to a body doesn't it. Just how silly war is.

According to the testimony of the second lieutenant Mathieu, 3 men were killed by leaving the tank. In front Lieutenant Duhourceau, tank commander, and staff sergeant Beauchamp (embarked as temporary). The 2nd driver, Chasseur (2nd class) Derrider, fell on the side of the tank. Bodies were calcined by the fire but the men had already died.
Excuse the translation, it is Reverso which makes it.

Yes, absolutely tough job being a tanker..split seconds make the difference in whether you live or die, or wind up horribly maimed. You can imagine the reaction of almost every man in that photo- a mixture of revulsion and irrepressible curiosity, knowing that death is always hovering around in a war zone, and the next victims may be themselves..
The tanker's worst fear?: getting trapped inside a burning vehicle...
