It would be better, if we could see the whole document.

Even before Max posted his example I was concerned about the contruction of the R on yours.

It woud be worth looking at the variations of Rommel in Hamilton's book to see what other signature variants exist. Even Hamilton was not definitive on whether the Rommels he shows were real, choosing instead to make a soft landing in favour of them being likely real.

Rommel is heavily forged and probably a relatively easy siganture to copy. While the R in your signature looks unusual to me, the rest looks quite good.

Nevertheless, given my druthers, I would probably chose a Rommel ALS or ANS with more handwriting than a simple signature to add to my collection. There seem to be a lot of these award docs with his signature floating about, all priced around $500.

            Colin

I think the signaure is good from examples I've seen, but that's just me.

                          Rommel

I agree with Matt and Max. The loop at the start of the sig in the 'R' seems to be one indicator of a good Rommel. Many of the fakes seem to start with a line straight down at the start. I have doubts about the card posted by DLD13.

There are two Rommel's in the latest andreas theis auction (scroll down to bottom)

I don't like the look of either of them, but as Max has said, compare with the two good ones posted by Max and PzV and make up your own mind.

Jim, I second that! I wonder how many letters like this he found the time to answer. Interesting that it was typed on a typewriter with no Umlaut keys; maybe something captured ...

                            Best,
                            Greg

Here is another original Rommel, signed with his trademark pencil. I like all of my Rommel signatures with the pencil. Regards to all.
