A recent lot purchased from a Canadian veteran included a vehicle registration document: "Kraftfahrzeugschein". He said that at the end of the war in Germany he and several others had captured the vehicle, "...a big black Opel" and the occupants, "...a young fellow who was the driver (see picture) and a couple of German officers". He did not recall names or other details.
In any case, I find the document interesting and wanted to share it here with fellow forum members.
It indicates that the Opel Super 6, registered 23.Sep.1939 with Austrian plate number A 33.995, had belonged to Erwin Riedl in Wien. It was then purchased and became the property of the Wehrmacht and given the plate number WL 180689 and assigned to the Luftwaffe for the rest of the war.
From the stampings it appears to have initially been assigned to Luftgaukommando XV1, and subsequently to Stuka Schule 2. in Otrokowitz, Wien on the 11.Mai.1940. It was then further assigned to Dienststelle L-11931 in Wien on 28.Nov.1940, then to Dienststelle Feld-Ausb.-Regt.d.Lw.Nr.1 on 22.Februar.1943; then to Dienststelle Feldpost-Nr. L49029D L.G.P.A. Paris 5, and finally on 27.10.44 to Dienststelle Feldp.-Nr.L 61827 B Lg.P.A. Unna 2. This latter entry has been signed by a Hauptmann u. Fhr.d.Feldgend.-Trupps. (Captain and Leader of Field Police Troops?).
If any forum members have comments on this item, they would be most welcome.
Thanks,
