    Hey Joe

Eberhard Runge went on to CO S-69 in the Baltic in the Fall of 1944 till wars end. He particpated on a major operation with S-64 and S-81 against 9 Soviet D-3's sinking 3 of them and damaging another 4. the 3 S-Boot CO's took 15 POW's plus the CO of the 2nd TKA Division on 27th of March 1945. Runge was one of 8 CO's in the 2. Schnellbootschule Flottille that provided escort services to the retreating Km ships loaded with refugee's along with independent mining and torpedo/cannon operations against any Soviet ship/submarine underaken.
A little more info all 8 S-Boots were 38B variants-older Boots but had the updated armored Kalotte in place. the unit was identified with numbers for each vessel.

Hirschstein: Thanks for the additional information! Great info.

Helden: I'll keep a watch for when you get the album scanned. It would be interesting if there was a connection between the two photo sets.
