Can someone give me the gist of what is contained in this narrative, (not an exact or total translation). I was told it is an affidavit submitted by a W-SS oakleaves bearer, regarding poor treatment he received as a prisoner after the war? I want to know what it says before I insert in a book I'm working on. Thanks in-advance.

Yes, it is all about brutal treatment by American soldiers when he returned home. He was beaten and kicked over a period of hours and transported to a prison where other SS troops were also mistreated. He and they were also robbed of their belongings and not allowed to go to the bathroom among other things. He is sent to another prison, but kicked and beaten first, so that he contemplated suicide. That's the short version.

Fritz Langangke sent me that when
we were corresponding about a decade ago.
He says he was looted of all his personal
possessions and like many other PWs, filled-out
and sent-in a similar statement. He wrote to me:

My mother's family was kicked out of their home with no notice, my grandmother was shot at, and my mother was sexually assaulted, all by the US 'liberators'

In my oppinion if you mention this incident you also have to mention that a US officer came and prevented it.

My Great Grandfather was also captured by the Americans. He said it was the worst part of the hole war for him. They were marched from Zulpich Germany down to France some where. They were given no food or water. Some civilians would leave food and water by the edge of the road, if one of the German soldiers went to pick it up they were shot. If there was a cigarette butt on the ground and they went to pick it up, they were shot. Then when they finally got to the POW camp, all it was , was a big open field with no shelter. There too, they were not given any food. French civilians would throw food over the fence for the German soldiers and they had to eat the grass which everybody walked on. Them to, every thing they had was stripped and taken away from him. There were random shootings and beatings. He said it was more of a place of torture then a POW camp. He said they only reason why he survived was because a US Cornel liked him and had him as his driver. He wasn’t even Wehrmacht, he was a truck driver for the Reichbahn. He said most of the guys from his POW camp were sent to rebuild some French mines and the majority of them never returned, they were worked to death. He didn’t get sent to the mines because he made him self look sick and old so they labelled him not fit for work and released in May 1946.

You're quite right, Christoph, and a lucky thing it was for the women in question. But I think it's high time to dispel the notion that US troops were the angelic figures which they have been portrayed as in the media.
