    ID'ing a General in a Film

    Gentlemen:

Please have a look at this video clip:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMyiq...eature=related

I have always been curious as to who the older General is who is invited by the Fuhrer to walk to his right as he reviews the troops.

    Can you ID him?

    Best regards,

    Mike

Youtube title said 1941. Keitel with GFM baton and v Hase as Kmdt v Berlin so gives 1941 quite a bit of credence.

You can see older general with BATON. So I would say Char als GFM Böhm-Ermoli. Can't see his PLM very well. And of course MMJO would be covered up by his overcoat. Böhm-Ermoli died in Dec 41. Pic didn't suggest winter in Berlin.

    Cheers

      ....

      Elwyn,

Great work! That's him. I found some other photos of him on the internet.

As you said, he died later that year. I think the wreath-laying ceremony in Berlin with the subsequent parade was in March.

The old General was 85 at the time. And he still looked pretty good in uniform though obviously a bit frail. I wonder what the reason was for him being accorded this honorary position in the review that year.
