No 'mystery' here! This is an unissued initial NSDAP Membership Card, the like of which was carried by millions of Party members. The obverse of this card would be filled out to include the member's name and assigned number, address and Ortsgruppe, occupation and date of birth; the dates of membership application and of acceptance; and the rubber-stamped name of the National Party Treasurer, Franx Xaver Schwarz, whose office was responsible for all matters concerning membership records. The document would be completed by the embossing of the National Leadership -- Reichsleitung -- seal to the card's lower left area.
The card should be pink in color and be printed in black ink on cardstock. The reverse displayed an area where membership dues stamps could be affixed. This card, once issued, was the precursor to the actual Membership Book -- the red simulated cloth-bound book that included the member's photo, years of dues stamps, and more detailed information about his/her personal life, the services rendered, and the events attended. It took about two years for the Membership Book to be issued, probably because the Party wanted to be assured that this person would keep up his/her obligations over the long term.
Another fine artifact, still waiting for the next member to join!
