I bet he told the younger guys a lot of stories.

Thanks for posting your interesting photo. The insignia dates it to 1933/34, well before Germania was designated. Can you tell from the original what the cuff titles say? That would clarify the blank tabs.

As for the CT, Iam realy not sure what it could mean. I thought Germania because he was in that unit later, but you are right, its a shorter word. I have attached more pics, maybe you can get an idea from that ?

you are right Having the pics in hand I thought it would be Dachau but this didnt exist so "Donau" is it then.

I didnt even knew that a Donau CT existed. Is there any special history behind that Title ?

Oberabschnitt Donau was an early Austrian district, banned when the SS was declared illegal in that country.
Photographs of the title are not that common and, because most Austrian SS members joined other SS organisations after 1934, rarely worn.
