Willrich VDA Card - Doenitz

Hi Everyone,

A while back I picked up several Willrich cards, all KM related (in fact, all U-Boot aside from Doenitz).

However, since receiving them, I can't help but have my doubts about them. The main reason being that the paper stock used seems thin and with it lightweight cf. known original Willrich cards in my possession.

Other than the weight, the cards do seem to compare favourably (at least I think so) with other Willrich cards I have. Also, no reaction to UV (I tested the Doenitz card alongside a known original Willrich card).

Unfortunately, I don't have a working scanner at the moment but will post a few photos of the cards presently (taken without flash and on a tripod).

If anyone could offer me an opinion on this, I would be most grateful.

2 I am also concerned by the "bleed" of colour along the lower edge. Cause for concern? I did notice something similar on an undoubted original Willrich card I have.

Hi,

I'm afraid I can't help you with your request for confirmation of originality of your cards, but I can't help but make this observation on the WAF as it is at the moment!
When I first became a new member several years ago, (under a different name); many more experienced members would have given advice and good information about your cards.
Now, posts like yours are seemingly either ignored or overlooked,;which to me is a sad reflection of the hobby - and I,m sorry to say this : but the WAF as a community forum.

This one looks like an original to me. The paper should be lightweight and the color printing is on a surface coated with white chalk. The Germans perfected this method of color printing on chalk coated paper, but it is fragile and will flake off if severly bent or folded.
