From the left: could be Peiper (not sure); then Prutzmann, then Wolff, then Himmler; the could be Schörner (not sure about that one at all.

In the centre = Hitler. On the left of Hitler = v. reichenau. On the right is Engel. Extreme right = Himmler.

The picture seems familiar to me. Is it of them chatting to Swiss border guards in 1940?

yes exactly but with regard to the date, I 'm not sure. This is why I have asked the Prutzmann's rank

I'm almost positive it is the summer of 1940.

The pic was definitely taken early war, that being the case the guy on Himmler's left is a member of the gebirgstruppe (bergmutze) and a senior officer at that. The only guy that looks like that for the period was Schörner who was in France at the time as commander of the 6 Geb.Div. I think i'm right in saying it was also the only time during the war Schörner was in France.

It can't be pre-war as the SS officer on the left is wearing an EKII ribbon.

I'll try and remember where i saw the pictures when i get home.

                    ...

In first photo, SS Generals at left are Werner Lorenz (rather than Pruetzmann) and Karl Wolff.

                    Best,

                      Got it!

This photo is in the book "Das Gelbe Edelweiss" published in 1943 and is the war history of the 6 Geb. Div. up to that time.

Regarding the pic with Hitler and Reichenau, please look at my thread at
                        http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtop...ighlight=cranz

Pimberg, I don't know whom you are referring to as Engel. The general in question could not have been Joachim or Gerhard Engel as both were promoted generals long after Reichenau died.

                        Just a wild guess, Cranz.

                        Cheers

Thank you very much for all your precisions

Nice picture simon. If somebody has others pictures about the swiss border in the ww2, I would like well to see them.

                          cordially,
                          Leon

                            Elwyn,
Engel is the man with the googles around his neck. The general talkimng to Hitler I can only provide a wild-guess in saying Guderian (????)

                              Hi Pimberg,

I see what you mean. The officer with the goggles had adjutants aiguillettes so it would fit Gerhard Engel -- Hitler's Heer adjutant. Maybe.

The general, though was defintely not Guderian. You could see from the close-up that he was a GenMj.

                              cheers
