Are you sure that is a Flugbuch? It appears that there is a photo on the page opposite the one he is writing on. Maybe this is just a book of some sort...?

I could be wrong, but for me, it is not a pic but a blotting paper
See, he is using a fountain pen.
Again, I could be wrong, but the logic says:
He still has his flying suit,
The book REALLY looks like a hard cover flugbuch,
He is writing with a foutain pen

I have enlarged the pic, and Rick is right, it is not a flugbuch (a picture on the right) and he is probably writing some kind of dedication.

I agree, It sure looked like it was a FB! I initially thought it might be something like blotting paper, but I doubt he would be resting the sleeve of that nice flight suit on it if it were
