Gebirgsjaeger? Jägerdivision ‘Spielhahn Division’, 97th Jäg Wallon Caucasian Div???

Can anyone help please? Is this man a Gebirgsjaeger? If he is, is it possible he’s from The Legion Wallonie. He appears to be wearing some sort of arm patch that possibly looks like a Jägerdivision ‘Spielhahn Division’, -the Gamecock Division, after its divisional symbol ??.... Or is it an Oakleaves patch of the 97th Jag div.??.... I know he is wearing the patch on his right arm, but I have read that as a sign of outstanding service with the 97th Jäg div the Wallon Caucasian Veterans were awarded the privilege of wearing the Edelweiss on their caps AND on the right arm.
(The card on the left is dated Christmas 1942).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Terry.

It's just the patch for members of a Jäger unit (oakleaves) ?

      Grüß Di' Terry,

Can you read the numbers on the shoulderboards on the lefthand soldat? He doesn't seem to have a Jäger or Gebirgsjäger sleeve or cap badge, though he does have a rather nice doeskin Bergmütze.

The one on the right is definitely from a Jägerdivision since the patch on his sleeve is the oak-leaf insignia for all qualified Jägers...but he is from one of the divisional support units like artillery, signals, pioneer, etc. since he is awarded the GAB and not the IAB.

      Horrido!

Although the man is most likely from a Jäger division, the insignia was also worn by men of the independent jäger battalions as well as those battalions designated as 'jäger' within otherwise regular infantry\grenadier regiments and divisions.
