Hello!
Since several years I'm researching about the airfield firefighting service of the Luftwaffe. Usually the firemen were not soldiers but civilian employees. In pre-WW2 time they had a special firefighter uniform. After the beginning of the war the most of the firemen became soldiers to protect them by the international war regulations. All firemen received a new uniform based on the pattern for Luftwaffebeamte.
The regulation LDv 5 says, air traffic is only allowed if fire service is available.
I checked many books and many pictures but found no indication that there was a Luftwaffe fireservice in North Africa.
Are there any information about or pictures showing firemen in North Africa?
Thanks in advance for all answers!
Regards
Guenter
