    Opinions on Originality??

    Hey guys,

Got this photo a little while ago. I have my ideas reserved for this photo, but was wondering what other people think of it. First, I would like to mention that I have been told (not by seller) that the name on the reverse has been written by a typewriter and not a computer printer. Second, I think that they have spelled the KC winners name incorrectly. I believe him to be Oberstleutnant Erich Weissflog of NG76. He was also Hans-Joachim Jabs' radio operator on almost ALL of Jabs' destroyer and Night fighting missions and was considered Jabs' true friend outside of flying.

Anyway, what are your thoughts about the originality of this photo? In hand it looks normal and is not that "sepia-yellowish" color, just to give an idea about the appearence. If you think it is a Copy or Fake, please give an explanation of why you think so.......it does no good to just write "fake". Thanks alot for any opinions or info

    Fake

    1. I don't like the contrast of the obverse.
    2. I don't like this cutting.
    3. Angle of 2 Agfa-Brovira markings. They should be on the same angle.

Please write the size of the photo.

      Andrew,
You hit it on the head with #3. These were my thoughts exactly, but I wanted to see if anyone else had the same to say about it. I got this photo with a group of 3 fakes (including this one) but there were others in the group that were original 6x9s. However, the fakes were all on agfa lupex paper (or stamped), but this one was stamped brovira and also had a different textured obverse. So because it appeared different, I looked at it carefully and noticed that the markings were not aligned correctly. Therefore my conclusion was that it was most likely not even on period paper. The other thing that stuck out was the incorrectly spelled name. So these could be pretty damaging fakes to people who dont know any better only because of the makers stamps. On the other fakes I got, the agfa stamps are perfectly aligned, but I still think they are not on period paper.....just stamped with a fake stamper

The size is 4.5 in X 3.25 in. Which is slightly smaller than a postcard. the other fakes were on regular sized postcard paper. I know they did use this size paper in original period photos, however it isnt used that commonly. In hand, this is better than some of the fakes I have seen, which is why I figured I would post it and see what people said. Usually you can feel the texture of the obverse on modern faked photos and they feel and look "newly" printed. However, this wasnt the case with this photo, another reason why it interested me.
