    Hello,

Below are three photo's showing Generalleutnant Friedrich Bergmann, and also included is some information about him.

Born: 10th of May 1883 at Ingolstadt.
Died: 21st of December 1941 near Syavki, Russia.

    Promotions:

    Fähnrich: 29th of January 1903
    Leutnant: 9th of March 1904
    Oberleutnant: 7th of March 1912
    Hauptmann: 9th of August 1915
    Major: 1st of February 1926
    Oberstleutnant: 1st of November 1930
    Oberst: 1st of April 1933
    Generalmajor: 1st of March 1936
    Generalleutnant: 1st of March 1938

    Awards:

    - Deutsches Kreuz in Gold
    - Hohenzollern Hausorden, Ritterkreuz mit Schwertern
    - Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer
    - Eisernes Kreuz II Klasse 1914
    - Eisernes Kreuz I Klasse 1914
    - Dienstauszeichnung der Wehrmacht IV. Klasse
    - Dienstauszeichnung der Wehrmacht III. Klasse
    - Dienstauszeichnung der Wehrmacht II. Klasse
    - Dienstauszeichnung der Wehrmacht I. Klasse
    - Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 13. März 1938
    - 1939 Spange zum Eisernen Kreuzes II. Klasse 1914
    - 1939 Spange zum Eisernen Kreuzes I. Klasse 1914
    - Kgl. Bayer. Militär-Verdienstkreuz IV Klasse mit der Krone und Schwertern
    - Kgl. Bayer. Prinz Regent Luitpold Jubiläums-Medaille
    - k.u.k Osterr. Militär-Verdienstkreuz III Klasse mit der Kriegsdekoration

Conclusion: Based on the fact that the person on the photo is an Oberleutnant and since Generalleutnant Bergmann was promoted from Oberleutnant to Hauptmann in August 1915, it isn't the same man. Also, the officer on the photo is wearing a ribbon for the Kriegsverdienstkreuz II Klasse mit Schwertern, and for as far as I know Bergmann was not awarded this. But, I might be wrong.

    With kind regards,

    Koen.
