    Panzer-Regiment 33 "Soldiers Reunited"

After some months of collecting, I finally achieved to find five Studioportraits from soldaten of Panzer-Regiment 33 "Prinz Eugen". Sadly, I do only have one name to one of the soldiers. The soldier to the extreme right is Feldwebel Josef Roßmann, who was killed in combat on 29 June 1941. He left behind his wife and young child.

    Soldaten wiedervereinigt..

A beautiful studioportrait of two brothers? I do really like this studioportrait. Also look to the yellow "33" Überschuhe for "Nachrichten". This studioportrait came from the same Nachlaß as the second portrait from the left. This soldier has the "33" in Red.

          Dein Grab im fernen Feindesland
Ist uns wohl eine schwere Pein,
Doch nimm dies Wort zum Unterpfand
Dein Grab soll nicht verlassen sein..

This photograph has been taken in Wünsdorf, 1939. Sadly, I do not know which month. I still didn't have the time to rechearch this photograph. It came together with other 9. Panzer-Division photographs. Another photograph out this small lot shows a Halbkettenfahrzeug, clearly marked with the divisionsymbols"XX" of the 4. (schnelle) leichte-Division / 9. Panzer-Division and the photograph has also been taken in Wünsdorf, 1939 - to believe the writings. Either way it is Panzer-Abteilung 33 (formed II. Abteilung/ Panzer-Regiment 33) or Panzer-Lehr-Abteilung (which formed I. Abteilung/ Panzer-Regiment 33).

To go a little earlier in the time. Actually, where it all started for the Panzer-Regiment 33.. The Panzerwagen-Bataillon from the Austrian Bundesheer! Photograph was taken in Bruck a/d Leitha, 1937 with Italian CV-33 Tankette.

Fahrschule Bruck a/d Leitha. Photograph taken in 1938 after the Austrian Bundesheer was incorporated in der Wehrmacht. This is a very beautiful photograph, I really like it. Also take a look at their uniform.

Second photograph I will show you from Fahrschule Bruck a/d Leitha, also this photograph was taken in 1938. The second photograph - I have - which is probably taken ca. one minute or some minutes before or after this one, is an absolute beauty - currently kept from the eyes for future plans. Also take a look at the uniforms here. Must someone recognize personal or the officer (most likely to be a Leutnant) third from the right, please let me know.

Sadly the Postcard came in somehow late but still I want to wish you all a happy new year and good health and luck - which no-one can buy. This Postcard was written by Unteroffizier Ignaz Steininger, 7. Kompanie/ Panzer-Regiment 33. Later on we find him back in the 6. Kompanie/ Panzer-Regiment 33 which became 3. Kompanie/ Panzer-Abteilung 51.

According to avaible records he most probably survived the war.

I must admit I really do love the Artwork the frontline soldiers made. Also this kind of material (such as Trench Artwork, Feldpost etc...) is one of the most personal you can become. Just admire their work. Following post is artwork of der Edle Ritter, Prinz Eugenius von Savoyen on his horse. Which also became the traditionssymbol of Panzer-Regiment 33 "Prinz Eugen". They earned (and were granted) this title in March 1943. This came together with other paperdocuments and artwork directly personed to Oberst Ludwig Schmahl by Oberartz Dr. Steffen. Most probably this artwork is of him.
