KM Photo Search: Do You Own This Photo?

    Good Day All:

I have missed this photo twice in the last 12 years. Once in the entire album, and once more recently as a single photo (I HOPE it is a another print of the photo and the album has not been "parted-out") Anyway, I think I have a research connection to one of the men in the photo. I may have a lot of his very interesting and action-packed Kriegsmarine career detailed-out. If you own the photo I'd be VERY interested in purchasing.

Thanks for your indulgence in tolerating my singular quest for yet another single photo.

And once again, thank you for any other Hilfskreuzer photo leads or assistance!

    Hi Joe,

I have a same photo in the album of Z38, though I will not part with it.
I think that another photo is not so hard to find. I have seen it twice at eBay in the past few years.

So you were the buyer of the album! At least I know the album is safe from being torn apart and lost to history forever. Perhaps one day I'll have something of interest to get that album in trade from you!

Yes, and that is, indeed, the man I am researching!

Z-38! Great information!!!!! I was going down the track thinking is was either Z-32 or Z-37. That fact helps my research.

Any other photos of the man in the album?

I don't know whether my album is the same as the album that you missed, because I acquired it outside of the internet.
Crew member's portraits are few in my album, but I have found another one.
This photo was taken at the commissioning ceremony of Z-38 (20. Mar. 1943).

Once again good information! I missed the album from a private collector internet sale; not a direct purchase. So the one I missed over a decade ago was a different one.

Thank you for the date--that helps!

Great additional Fotos!!! Wow. I am really wanting to see one of these albums now!

Thanks for the additional photo information! You have now opened up an entirely new avenue of research for me! I did NOT know there was another HSK crewman on the ship at that time.

                Thanks Again!

Joe I will further your suspense though on S-176 there is a crew foto in my possession showing a member with the HSK badge, posted in on GCA forum, maybe you have seen it. I know Martin W. tried to have it enlarged as I could not.

                    Erich:

                    You're right--he's wearing a HSK. I enlarged the foto to 500% and it was visible. Cross-referenced S 176 against my database---no hits.

I have references of crewmwn serving on other S boats, but no S 176.
Just more mystery to add into the puzzle of researching these guys.

                    Every data point helps.

                    Thanks for the lead!

Here is a close up of the shield. "Schwarze Panther" is the nickname of Z 38, but I have not seen any photos of Z 38 with this emblem yet.

I would not have noticed another HSK crewman if you did not create the thread. I look forward to hear a successful result of your research!

thank you for blowing up the Schwarze Panter image. in a small softbound booklet on Z-38 it does show in sketch form the front of the bridge with the wappenshield of the "Cat" ............ Des Schwarzen Panthers Kampf und Ende through SOS, Nr. 126.
