Deathcard of my uncle

Hello all,

i found by accident this deathcard of my uncle, the brother of my father, who fought in the east. Can someone tell me, which rank he had? He is wearing a shield, am i right, when i suppose, it is a Narvik-shield(see closeup).

Hi Gerd, a nice peice of family history you have found.

The uniform your uncle wears is that of the RAD. He would have served in the RAD before joining the Armed Forces. I do not think it is a Narvik shield, but it does not look like the standard shape RAD area shield either?

Thanks, Ade. I don´t know so much about Uniforms, just wondered, why there is no Army-eagle on his chest . You could be right about the shield. Could be a RAD area shield, indeed. Thanks for clearing this up!
