Hello, I picked up a nice framed picture of an Assault Gunner today at the Ottawa Militaria Show. I thought I would share it with you guys.
It's a large frame, 19 by 16 inches.
The picture is really nice but the back of the frame is also interesting. You have the name of the soldier (Max Frichs), his date of birth (March 14, 1920) and the name of the city he was born in (Niderlausitz I believe).
You also have the date he was killed (September 1, 1943). I'm still trying to decipher the name of the town, but it's in Russia.
Finally, at the corners, you have the remains of a black mourning ribbon.
