            Excellent photos. This is Hans von Schlebrügge of GJR 139. reffered to by some as the father of German ski troops in WWII.

            As he has his RK but not his Narvik shield yet the photo can be dated to the second half of 1940. The EKII he's awarding will be for the Narvik campaign.

                        The guy in front i believe is Wolf Hagemann and in the background, the regimental commander, Alois Windisch.

                        So i think we can safely say this is the III Btl. perhaps when Schlebrügge took over from Hagemann.

                        It could even be as early as September. Snow flurries are not unknown up here at that time.
