How rare is this certificate for the Kampfgeschwader Boelcke 27 arm band?

it's rare alright. Very nice, i don't think i've ever seen an award doc for one of the LW traditions unit armbands. You see them now and again for traditions pins of the heer and KM but they're also rare.

Simon is correct these documents are quite unique.

I recall seeing one other document for award of the unit cuff-title but this was some time back and cannot recall where.

It is not common to find the unit cuff-title entry listed in Soldbuchs let alone the actual award documents.

I guess rarity equals desirability and $$$. I'm getting all this guy's award documents and Flugbuch for a decent price, so I'm quite pleased. No Soldbuch unfortunately.

This document is not the reason I bought the grouping, it was just a nice bonus. The seller was trying to gouge me on price due to the rarity of this document but in the end I was able to negotiate a good deal. The group contains:
• Flugbuch with over 200 Feindflug, including France and England in 1940, and Russia 1941-1944 (Crimea, Stalingrad, Kharkov, etc.)
• 1x Ausweis with photo
• Verleihungsurkunde Fliegerschützen
• Verwundetenabzeichen from Kampfgeschwader Hindenburg
• Urkunde EK 1
• Urkunde EK 2
• Urkunde Winterschlacht im Osten
• Verleihungsurkunde Frontflugspange für Kampfflieger; Bronze
• Verleihungsurkunde Frontflugspange für Kampfflieger, silber
• Verleihungsurkunde Frontflugspange für Kampfflieger in Gold
• Besitzzeugnis für Krimschild
• Besitzzeugnis zur Verleihung für das Ärmelband Böleke
• Urkunde Krezzug gegen den Kommunismus
• Beförderungsurkunde zum Feldwebel

So, all in all, a nice grouping.

Yes, a very nice grouping indeed. A WB to aircrew personnel is pretty rare as well.

Appears to be a very nice, complete set.

It is a shame the WP or SB are not included however the beauty of groups like this is that it appears to be complete with regard to the documents and that coupled with having the Flugbuch (assuming they are operational flights) should give you a good sense of when he was awarded his awards relative to the flights recorded.

I am a big fan of the Kampfflieger so if you get a chance to show the other documents they would be great to see.
