          I started this thread with a photo of Friedrich Neumann, who was the commander of the IR17 at the beginning of ww2 in 1939. Here is another photo, which came from his family. The photo has a better quality than in the next picture.

            If it is Kavallerie Regiment 5, it is the Prussian skull on the cap of the soldier!

                          A photo, which was sold to me as photo from the IR17. When I had it in my hands I noticed the atelier marking from Stolp and I think the officer is from the 5th cavalry.

                          PS: Anybody, who can show us some more photos from the Kavallerieregiment 5?
