Absolutely first-class photos, Jim! I really like #29 and #31.

Do you know more about #36? He looks familiar to me, possibly an officer named Unruh from 1.Kav.Div.?

          All the best,
          Jason

                Okoska, thanks for the correction!

Jason, you never cease to amaze me- it is in fact Rittmeister von Unruh photographed during the Polish campaign by Gottfried von Dietze (he gave me some of these pictures and I have attached a scan of the back of the photo)- you have a very good eye for detail!!

Thanks Jim. My wife is often "bemused" by the fact that I have excellent recall of names and faces of German soldiers from 70 years ago but cannot remember my nieces' and nephews' birthdays!

Gob smacked. You would make a lot of newly published books blush in embarrassment !
I sometimes have to pinch myself, that these shots are all taken before 1945. Some of the shots are so vivid and clear, you would think they were taken 1 year ago.

                    Really amazing !

Not the best clarity, but still a decent shot...

Note the MP's, Hunde (the best part of the photo, of course !!) and Camo nets....

You are indeed correct Jim - moskito nets, not camo nets (my mistake)....

Superb thread. Now my contribution: Romanian paras in German gear, wearing their MP40 alongside the ZB MG.

                                My very best,
