A crossroads in our time is in the same place. But the road has become much narrower. It is located ten meters behind me.

Excellent thread, one of the best on the internet! Kudos to skvorin for his superb work.

As an aside but within the spirit of this thread, there are a couple books written by William A. Frassanito that carry this same theme for the American Civil War battles of Antietam and Gettysburg. Author finds locations of period images and gives a current (1970's) shot of the same location.

It's amazing. Sometimes, comparing the photos I noticed that the shape of the clouds are also identical. Don steppe 1942/2015

Coincidentally, I had visited the exact same location in 2007, so I was very excited to get this photo and realise I had been on the exact spot... a small village called Trekhovstroyevskaya.

Can i find those pictures on one website or in a book, 'Then and Now' only from Stalinbgrad and the area around it? Does something like that exists.

I included a couple in my book "Angriff: The German Attack on Stalingrad in Photos" (http://www.leapinghorseman.com.au/pr...75107676&cat=5). After The Battle also did an issue dedicated entirely to Stalingrad and it was Skvorin who made the comparisons for it. It was released in early 2015, so you should still be able to find a copy.

I have enjoyed the "Then & Now" series over the years, especially the big book versions for Normandy, Berlin, BoB and Market Garden. The 2015 Stalingrad magazine version was great! I would love to see this topic expanded into the big book version. I would buy it.
