    Photos of German "Dummy" tank.

I have a few photos within a German officers album which show a wooden mock up tank .
The officer was long serving , involved in the invasion of Belgium / France and later went back into military service during the 1950s/early 60s.
I believe the wooden tank photos date to around 1943-44 when Gustav was an Officer at a flak battery ?
Are these soldiers merely larking about ? training ? or is the vechicle a decoy ?
If its a decoy / mock up was this common with German forces ?
Can anyone identifiy the senior officer looking on ?
    many thanks
    jim

You see this kind of wooden dummy tanks more often. They were used for training anti-tank tactics (as can be seen on the photos).
