    SS TK-div Portrait (with KC)

    Hi,

This is a really awesome portrait, does anyone have an idea who he is?
I believe this is an original photograph as it is not a postcard.

    Any input is highly appreciated!

    Best,
    Ostarrichi

One of your fellow country men, Walter Reder. He was hold in ital. prison till he died, althogh there were no proofs for any "massacres" he should have ordered...

Check this old (german) article for more infos:

Well known foto, no private shot.

      Hi,

Thanks for the info, I really appreciate that!

However, wasn't it customary for postcards/photos for the public that the name was added at the bottom on the front and the backside of the photo was in postcrd style?

The reverse is blank in my case.

      Thanks again!

The back of your foto looks typical for a press-release foto (with the remains of the once glued on info-paper).

          Hi,

          Interesting information! Thank you!

What exactly were press release photos used for? I mean, press release sounds like they needed a picture to put in a newspaper. And what is the info paper you mentioned?

Do you think this is a period photograph? I do believe so, although it might have been a mass production one.

          Thanks in advance!

          Best,
          Ostarrichi

Just thought I'd add a couple of scans I have of Reder.

Rder was not in prison "till he died." I took this photo of him (right, with Albert Stenwedel) in Lenggries during a Regiment "Der Führer" Treffen in the 1980s.
