two I consider fairly rare - #2 has two piece insignia on the M42 and #5 has plastic buttons. I would love to know the markings on the #5 cap, were it possible to know.

And what kind of Ribbon bar is this ?

I have seen a lot of photos from WW 2 but thisw one pussles me.

      What is he wearing ?
EK I , Sturm abz and Wound badge and .... the photo isnt sharp enough to
be sure but it looks strange. And it is a m/43 hat ?
I am even wondering about the uniform itself ? what model is it ?

well well, at least the haircut is ok !

Hes wearing a 1st Model Tropical Tunic with Tropical Visor cap. The cap may have been bleached intentionallyto give it that veteran look. Either that or the uniform is newly issued. He appears to be wearing a metal eagle on the cap.Jim

Here is a nice portrait of a Panzer Officer wearing an O'seas cap...that shows in excellent detail in the original photo. Hope it comes out nicely here.

Whoever took this picture aimed teh camer like my left-handed mother and chopped off the top of his cap...otherwise, I'd say this is a fairly nice shot of a soldier who saw a day or more at the front.

Oh, the Naughtinesses committed upon reebon barz!!!!

That's an Afrikakorps officer, alright, wearing a FOUR ribbon bar--

he has made a Yucky Jumble of his ribbons:

                  1) 15mm 1939 EK2

                  2) Italian War Cross in full 30mm Italian width with "Fert" sword device (wrong, I think, but there you go) blue, white, blue, white, blue.

                  3) 15mm Westwall (or maybe 1938 Austrian Anschluss-- can't quite tell if there are tiny black stripes in the white edges) Medal

                  4) Italian North Africa Medal in full 25mm Italian width in heraldically proper German wear black/white/red/white/green.

Scott, that Panzerman photo is OUTSTANDING !
It is also nice to see some average soldat pics on the first page, because this was the majority of the German Army.

                        Hey Rick,
Not that I know much, well anything about ribbons, but I do read some of the threads with interest. From your comments above, if this bar appeared on ebay, would you think it real, or a slapped together item to fool a sucker like me.
                        Regards
                        Si

Well, not to stray to far afield from the photos thread, but there WAS period Naughtiness. Fronts, backs, etc tell their tales.

Here's an "Ugly" (period naughtiness) circa 1942. Ribbons are tab backs... but the THIRTY (as issued, not 25mm ribbon/buttonhole ribbon size) ribbon in the middle is on a SINGLE 30mm tabby. It was made this way.

Looks stupid, but made the wearer proud!
