SS 1C 2nd Class Award Need Research

I have an award of the IC2 for an individual... I would like to know if anybody can help me with more information on him? Here's the details I have.

    NAME: LUDWIG SCHAFER
    RANK: SS-ROTTENFUHRER
    UNIT: 12. SS-PZ.-DIV. "HITLERJUGEND"
    OTHER: DIV.GEF.STAND (What is this?)
    DATED: 12.okt.1944

signed by a SS-OBERGRUPPENF. u. GENERAL DER INFANTRY

What I have found on the internet is that he was born in 1924 in Kroedin and was wounded 16.7.1943.

    Pictures will follow...

    Thanks, CHUCK

DIV.GEF.STAND = Divisional Command Post (Gefecht Stand)

I'll tell you right off the bat that if that is what's on the document then it's fake but let's see a scan to be certain.

Div.Gef.Stand is the abbreviation for divisional command post.

The document is a poor forgery.

And there is nothing called "SS Obergruppenführer Und General Der Infanterie"

SS Obergruppenführer und General der Waffen SS,
SS Obergruppenführer Und General Der Polizei und Waffen SS

          Etc......

And the Commanding Officer of Wehrkreis X at this time was General der Infanterie Wilhelm Wetzel (i.e. Heer, not W-SS).

Not often we get to spot fakes by description alone. Pretty much everything that can be wrong is wrong with it.

style of document, signature, stamp, typing, unit..the lot.

Sorry Chuck but this one is a howler.
