    Can anyone ID this general?

Does anyone recognise this general? I have no proof but I think the photo was taken from 1943 onwards (the photo comes from a collection about Inf.Rgt.369, which was trained in Austria then sent to the Ostfront, serving there from October 1941 until Stalingrad's collapse in January 1943, but my gut feeling is that this photo relates to one of the later Croatian divisions).

    Thanks for any help
    Jason

    Hi Jason,

This is without a doubt GenLt Fritz Neidholdt, especially when your pic may have been from a veteran of the 369 Rgt the survivors of which formed the nucleus of the 369 ID.

This is the way he wore his EKI spange and his infanterie general assault badge. Danggling from his neck was the Knights Cross of the Croatian Order of the Crown of King Zvonomir, hence white in colour. I have pics of him with the black Iron Trefoil and the Zvonomir breast star as well.

    Cheers
    Elwyn

      Hi Elwyn,

Thanks for the answer. I thought you might be able to ID him for me. Much appreciated, as this firmly makes it a post-Stalingrad photo.

      All the best,
      Jason
