            Thank you for the appreciative comments.

            Well, maybe because the Medaille zum Winterslacht im Osten award criteria was that one had to serve between November 15, 1941 and April 26, 1942. Maybe his unit, which sadly enough remains a mistery to me, did not see active duty on the Eastern Front during that period.

            Will look through the album to see if I can find a picture of him wearing an Ostmedal ribbon, but can't seem to remember one.

              One of the most interesting and unique "then and now" presentations I have ever come across.....the blending of the "then and now" photos especially gives you that "time machine" feeling....great stuff Vincent.....

                          The only unit I can think of that was near Smolensk in 1941 and Stalingrad in 1942-43 is 29. Infanterie-Division (mot.). Wuld love to see any Stalingrad photos in the album!
