        Hi,

I saw this picture and others from the same lot on eBay.
I think, the comment by seller as "PzRgt.11" confused me/us.
As mentioned on the other forum, "Panzerkampfabzeichen" is "Bronze", and thus he should be a "Panzergrenadier".
And, from the other shot of the lot, he was not yet awarded with Ritterkreuz as of May 1944.
        So, I believe, he is Stabsarzt(Hauptmann) d.Res., Dr. med. Friedrich Salamon, Ritterkreuz on July 20 1944 as Btl.-Artzt of II.Abt./PzGrenRgt. 26, 24.Panzerdivision.

I also suggest that "Doktor" in German is not always medical doctor.

            Hallo Uli,

            thank you for your advice.
I made a mistake at the beginning.
I had recognized the insignia on the shoulder board as "Aesculapius" (God of medicine). But, it may be not correct....
I have now carefully looked at it. And, it seems to be the letter "S" for "Schule" and the unit's number "11".
I guess that he was an instructor of a school from the unit "11".
If it is correct, this officer is possibly from Kav./Schtz./PzGren-Rgt. 11, 9.PzDiv..
There are some Ritterkreuzträger from this Regiment who may meets the conditions as no holder of Deutsches Kreuz in Gold, and ranking Hauptmann or Oberleutnant.

            Rass, Friedrich Hptm. Kdr. II./ 11 Rkrz. 30. 11. 43
            Michelsen, Heinz Hptm. Fhr. I./ 11 Rkrz. 18. 2. 44 + 2. 3. 45
            Gläsche, Dieter Oblt. Kp.Fhr. im Rgt.11 Rkrz. 14. 4. 45

            And,
Dienenthal, Erich Oblt. Fhr. 2.(Radf.)/Div.A.A. 45, 34. InfDiv. Rkrz. 14.12.41
            is from Kav.Rgt 11.
But, I am not sure if he won Panzerkampfabzeichen in Bronze or not.

              Uli and H. Kitamura,

Thank you both for your time. As Kitamura, I too had thought the shoulderboard insignia looked like medicine. I guess my eyesight isn't as good as Kitamura's - I don't think I ever would have spotted the 'S'.

              All the best,
              Toby.

                Hello again ,
I take a look at my pictures and I would say :
                Siegfried Rass =No
                Erich Dienenthal=No
                Heinz Michelsen=No
I never saw any picture in uniform from Dieter Gläsche .He has himself no pics in uniform and by the way it was a very late RK winning .....

I hope this one will be identified one time
                Best
                Uli
