    Award cert Question

    Hi everyone,
I am one of the many that collect Award Docs but can't read German.
    Can someone help with this?
When an award is signed and then typed under is something like
    Leutnant
    u.stellv.Kommandeur d.14.Inf.div
Does this mean 'signed on behalf of the Commander of 15 inf Division-or am I way out on this one?
    Thanks for your time
    glenn.

"u.stellv." is "und stellvertretender" which means in this context "leutnant and acting (alternate) commander..."

    hope this helps........

"stellv." is actually the abbreviation for "deputy," in this usage. An "acting" temporary commander used another abbreviation to indicate that: "m.d.F.b." or "m.W.d.G.b." A "Leutnant" could NEVER be a deputy divisional commander.
