    Umsiedlungskommando

    Hello Akira,

The documents that you presented are magnificent. I think that he could interest the author of an article who would have to much, but really much, interest also you.

By the biggest of the fates, an article written by Mr. Alain Taugourdeau has just appeared in a French magazine " 39-45 Magazine ", n° 209, in February, 2004. This article calls an underestimated subject, " The return within the Reich, September - November, 1940 ".

This article illustrated with several photos (not as beautiful as yours Akira) indicates the modalities which brought the return in the Reich of 92000 Bessarabie's Volksdeutsche and of 43000 Bukovine's Volksdeutsche.

More interesting, this article indicates that an SS unity called SS-Umsiedlungskommando, formed of people of the Allgemeine SS, was charged with this mission. This unity was composed of 559 men under the orders of the SS-Standartenführer Horst Hoffmeyer with for added the SS-Obersturmbannführer Dr. Klaus Siebert.

The author of this article indicates a book concerning this episode little known about our history :

"Der Zug der Volksdeutschen aus Bessarabien und Nord-Buchenland", Volk und Reich Verlag, Berlin, 1942.

I think so that the cuff title wears the mention SS-Umsiedlungskommando or Umsiedlungskommando.

You will find several images below.

    Dear Akira,

I think that the author of this article would be very happy to receive images of this operation. I shall send you an e-mail soon.

    Cordial greetings.

    Polux

      Umsiedlungskommando

Arrived from the Kommando to Galatz / Rumania in September on 1940. The consul of Germany in Rumania, the Dr. Loerner (to the left) comes to greet the responsible for the Kommando, the SS-Standartenführer Hoffmeyer (to the right).

Put back of documents. It is possible to see the cuff title. The letters ...dlungsko... are visible.

Great! Will check 39/45 magazine next week!

I wish I had a better view of the cuff title, but there are none clearer... "(SS-)Umsiedlungskommando"... Has one survived til today, I wonder!

A couple of non-soldier photos in remembrance of those who were forced to resettle:

This is one of the forms which the SS agencies (RKFDV, VOMI and RuSHA) used to record the furniture etc. being moved across the country with the resettled Volksdeutsche. A form would have been filled out for each family. Note the SS headings etc.
