The small cross in third place on his medal bar is the Brunswick Ernst August Cross 2nd Class with device for long service at the front. The first class is that cross on his inside below the EK1 with Spange (you will find plentiful scans of both under a search on "Ernst August" in the Imperial Forum). The odd combination results from being a Brunswick native in a Baden regiment! After Wehrmacht 25 and 12, the Sudeten Annexation medal 1938.

Below his EK1, a National Sports Badge, and off on his arm side a 1918 Black Wound Badge.
