I'd be so, so grateful. I've used a uniform book to help me out with most of them, as well as looking at writing on the back of the photos. With some, I just can't find a uniform that matches what they are wearing to a T, and with the ones I have decided on, I secretly wonder if they are wrong. Would any experienced person on this forum help lead me in the right direction? Thanks!
What I've decided so far:
Opening Photo: ?
Photo One: Parade Dress, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Likely Pre-War
Picture Three: ?
Picture Four: Theories: GI Prisoner of War Camp, perhaps lucky person who managed to smuggle his camera—Person having hair cut, not clear if German or American soldier. Undated photograph, likely taken someone in Italy based on the dress of the locals. If it is Italy, then likely temporary because there were not any major Allied Powers POW camps in Italy.
Picture Five: You can tell from the uniforms the men are cavalry. The uniform design places them in Russia 1941-1943. Appear to be waiting directions.
Picture Six: ?
Picture Seven: ?
Picture Eight: ?
Picture 9: Poland, Artillery Service Dress.
Picture 10: Scientists (Nazi funded, or associated with) studying aircraft engines.
Picture 11: Luftwaffe private examines a large vs small turtle.
Picture 12: “Balais”--Broomsticks, 3.6.40--same day Paris was bombed, possibly Paris. “Barley Mow.”
Picture 13: Back reads “Father instructing soldiers. Motortransport.” Uniforms indicate that these are SS-men being trained.
Picture 14: SS motto inverted—possibly written on back of a bunker.
Picture 15: Young Whermacht private stands in front of the Eiffel Tower, occupied Paris.
Picture 16: Kreifsmarine officer walks with a young child.
Picture 27: ?
Picture 18: Pre-war photograph, no later than 1939. You can tell because one man is dressed in the German Parade Uniform, specific to the time. Poses with family.
Picture 19: Russian POWs, about 1942.
Picture 21: Occupied Russian, burning.
Picture 22: Occupied Russia, peasants. .
