Need Help with Award Document

Need a bit of help with this Ostmedal award document that I have.

I have looked at a few others and I note that the one I have does not have a unit mentioned that the schutzen was attached to. Also I am unable to work out the unit on the stamp although it seemed to be based at Kiel.
If somebody can help with the unit ID and its function I would appreciate it.

thanks for that info. Unfortunate that I cant trace the unit the soldier was attached to but your info helps a lot. Cheers.

From the document you'll not be able to trace his unit. However, given his rank, we can say that he may very well have belonged to a motorised infantry unit or panzergrenadier. Assuming that is, they haven't left off 'panzer' if he was a panzerschütze.

The reason it's being issued by this office might well indicate he'd either been killed or seriously wounded and then discharged from service. He doesn't appear in the German wargraves database. But if he died during that winter, it may well be he was never buried or his death recorded.
