    Unpublished Hitler

I purchased a group of WW1 postcards last week and this one was in with the others. I am wondering if this is a picture of Hitler with a veterans group. What's the consensus?

Imho I don't think that it looks enough like him to be a possibilty.....unless he was very, very tired and making a face. This guy looks too old, and his eyes aren't right.
It would be cool for you if I were wrong though.

I'd like to think I'm on track.....where is the free facial recognition technology when you need it?

Well.I think you can do it yourself. Just make the pic you have (far right), and the A.H. example(middle), as close as possible to the same size, then get out your micron measuring device and start making comparative measurements.

But, I think you'll find A.H.'s face a little longer and his eyes a little further apart. I also think, by the shadow, your guys eyes are set in a little deeper. Also, the cheek bones aren't matching up. Maybe there are other early pictures that you can dig up. Good work though with those two pics.
Maybe you can convince some people here?

          Good luck,
          Jp
P.s.....does it look like A.H.'s ears stick out a little further? Maybe he already knew Dr. Mengele by then, and had them fixed before your shot though.

I think the first place to start would be with figuring out the unit, location, and date of the photo. I could be convinced it was Hitler, but the ears, I think, are not right. But I don't know.

The cards are from Metz, Bamberg, and Schernau with nothing written on the back. The rest are front pictures from 1917.

This large group photo shows a sailor as well and the sign is obscured.

Maybe I should phone up History Detectives.

What about the 5th guy, front row from the left? Looks like Hitler from what I can see.

                Regards,

I agree with John. It's not Hitler.

... Hitler did never know that Mengele existed. He was just one of all the doctors at Auschwitz.

I donĀ“t think that is Hitler eighter. His cheeks looks to different and as stated before, his eyes are to narrow

Wrong I'm afraid. The Mengele family was well known in Third Reich Germany. The family business was the manufacture of mechanical farming equipment and the business still exists to this day. There is a well known photo of Hitler visiting the Mengele factory.

I know about the Mengele factory. But did Hitler know that Josef existed and worked at Auschwitz. If he did they are wrong in one of my documentarys about Josef Mengele.

Well, the Mengele family name was very well known and I would find it hard to believe that on a visit to the factory when he mixed socially with Mengele senior and his wife, Hitler would not have enquired after members of the immediate family. Whether or not he knew that the son of the farm machinery manufacturer's son was assigned to Auschwitz I doubt, but that is not the point. You said......

My point is that he did. Not through his subsequent posting to Auschwitz, but by being a prominent member of one of the foremost manufacturing families in Germany.
