Abschussmeldung Question.....

I have 2 NJG1 Abschussmeldungen from 1941 in my collection. I think the reports are complete however, I have seen over the past few years similar Abschussmeldungen but in slightly different compilation.

Both of my Abschussmeldungem consist of the following:

Gefechtbericht - Signed by the claimant.
Zeugenbericht - Signed by the witness.
Abschussmeldung - Signed by the claimant.
Stellungnahme - Signed by the Staffelkapitain
Stellungnahme - Signed by the Gruppenkommandeur

Additionally, one of the reports also contains 2 witness reports from Lufwaffe ground personnel.


I have also seen examples where the compilation differs from the above:

No Stellungnahme signed by the Staffelkapitain.
Gefechtbericht, Zeugenbericht & Abschussmeldung signed F.d. R. I.V. by the Staffelkapitain and not the crew (and the Stellungnahme signed by the Staffelkapitain is also absent)

This leads myself to think that numerous copies of each Abschussmeldung were made however, I can find very little detailed information on these documents.

Any collector knowledge or information on existing examples in collections which can shed a little light on the formats and differing compilation of these documents will be very well received indeed.

Saw this thread just now.

I have two Abschussmeldungen. Both are dated 1943, both are for "Liberators".

One consists of the following:

1. official form "Zerstörungsmeldung" with details about amo used, hits etc.
2. description of the kill by the pilot
3. description of the kill by a second pilot
4. description of the kill by a third pilot

The second consists of the following:

1. cover, saying "Abschuss, this is the 8 kill of ..." etc.
2. description of the kill by a witness on the ground (policeman)
3. description of the kill by the pilot
4. description of the kill by a second pilot
5. confirmation of staffelkapitän and gruppenkommandeur

Most pages in both reports are marked "Abschrift" and they are all only signed by a Leutnant and Off. z.b.V. - nobody else.
According to the seller these reports were the copies which remained with the unit while the original ones were sent to Berlin for confirmation.

Very many thanks for taking the time to reply to my question on Abschussmeldungen.

Your reply in describing your 2 Abschussmeldungen in your collection confirms in my mind just how little has been established as to:

The standard format in the compilation of these reports

The exact amount of copies made per claim.

That is the 6th variation of report format that I have encountered and I am sure that I have only scratched the surface with this.

I would like to learn of any official criteria in the compilation and submssion of these reports however, there seems to be very little information available.
