    photo restoration

how do people here deal with faded photos?

i have an album of photos taken of mesopotamia in world war one, and they are so faded that i doubt they will last much longer

    any advice?

I don't think that there is much you can do to restore a faded photograph.
Also in some instances, a photo(s) has always been "faded" due to overexposed negative.

There may be a way to stop a photo from fading any further, if so I hope some one can post info here.

I think that the only way to do what you are seeking, is to scan the images and digitally inhance them with special software, if anyone knows of this type of software please post. Of course with this method, the original will remain faded but you will have an extra generation enhanced digital image.

    Hope this helps,
    John Pen.
P.S. I may be wrong on some of the above statements, and I invite any corrections or additions.

Not much you can do, just keep them out of light. Yes, save what you have of the image by high quality scan and on to Photoshop. Typically a colour correction to remove the yellowing and contrast boost against the fading.
