Weimar Reisepass Beruf definition

Ran across a grouping belonging to an individual whose occupation at the time of issuance ( 8 Jan. 1934) was "Dr. jur. Prokurist". Am familiar with american lawyers with JD degrees but am puzzled about "Prokurist". Could this be similar to Solicitors in the UK? The Reisepass also has Entry and Exit Visas from the Polish and Lithuanian Consulates in Berlin.

Prokurist you could translate it with "authorised representative / signatory".
The Prokurist was allowed to sign documents in the name of his company.
