    Unusual Panzeruniform Foto

I just found this foto is an antique store yesterday with a few other interesting fotos.

What I think is unusual about this foto - although - it is blurry, it looks as if this man is wearing large (ss?) type Totenköpfe on his tunic. I would think that the Cuff title could only be that for Grossdeutschland or Feldherrnhalle. Also, the metal cap eagle has had the Hakenkreuz cut off and his Kamerad on his right looks as if he denazified his uniform.

    Any thoughts?

    Erich

So you are saying that these men are Waffen-SS? I highly doubt it, to me they look like regular Heer.

    Best regards/ Daniel

      Maybe far fetched, but...

This could be a photo of the Danish writer known as Sven Hazel who was very popular in the sixties and seventies for his books about German soldiers in WW II. He claimed these books were based on his own experiences, but he is a complete fraud. During the war he was arrested by the Gestapo in Denmark for impersonating a German officer and you can see a photo of what he looked like here: here:http://members.lycos.co.uk/haaest/Ma...01-kapitel.htm

As you can see Hazel also uses SS-death heads instead af the original panzer death heads in his home-made uniform. I know this is a bit far out, but the man in the photo looks a bit like Hazel and the other fellow actually looks like he´s wearing a WW II Danish army uniform instead of a "de-nazified" German one. Just a thought.

        Witzig- aber nicht wahr.

There are certain very rare cases that individual soliders used 'other' death heads on their uniforms. And no, this soldier is not SS - either GD or FHH.

Please, let's not start another Sven Hassel thread. I just thought the foto was interesting. Punkt.

Sure, I´m new to this forum and have also no interest in a Sven Hassel tread. The cuffttitle is perhaps the most important clue to what unit this man is from, as it would have to be a unit with some kind of armoured detachment. Maybe he belonged to a jäger division with a company of Stugs attached and he was issued the black panzer uniform instead of the green for SP units.
