        Hi Dion,

Yes, assuming that's the same plane in the pictures in my own album that would be a Heinkel He-60 reconnaissance biplane.

But I don't quite understand the timelines of your album? I gather it's a Graf Spee sailor's album but then it seems to jump back from the GS tours to the Deutschland being bombed and the Admiral Scheer's retaliation on Almeria - perhaps photos he purchased in the canteen to put in his album? Are your postings in the order in which they appear in the album? And is it possible to see a closeup of the section in the lower left corner of the GS tour map that lists the destinations and dates?

        Best regards,
        ---Norm

I think it is fascinating the shots of the US Marines and american servicemen.
It is my understanding that in the American Navy that the African-American service members were only allowed to serve as stewards and cooks. The Navy remained segregated for the entire war. This is my understanding. Even with heroic acts performed by Doris "Dorie" Miller during the Pearl Harbor attack Dec. 7th 1941. Units still were segregated. The US Marines didn't even allow Blacks to be in a segregated regiments until 1942 and then they remained in segregation. The Navy and segregation remained until 1948.
I would love to learn more about what ship met up with the Admiral Graf Spee and be grateful to anyone who can provide. Great shots!

          Regards,
          JustinG
