Dear All,

I post this very beautiful and rare vorschlag of the SS-Hauptsturmfuhrer Malkomes a panzer ace of the 1SS Pz. Rgt. LAH from my collection.

This is one of the 1 or 2 original copies of the document conserved in the National Archive...as sure Mark Yerger could be confirm.

Hans Malkomes Hauptsturmführer of the Waffen-SS, born in Bremen, Germany November 15, 1913. He graduated SS Junkerschule in Braunschweig in 1936 with the number 526 and number 164 SS NSDAP 2 570 587 and was sent to the SS Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler takes command of a platoon of the 14th Company of the LSSAH. In November 1942 he was transferred to the command of a platoon of the 4th Company, 1st Battalion of the SS Pioneer LSSAH and finally in 1943 he was transferred to command of the 2nd Company, 1st SS Panzer Regiment LSSAH. It 'was during this command that has been awarded the German Cross in Gold (June 1944) and the Knight's Cross (October 1944).<o></o>

Malkomes was killed in action in the war in March 1945 in Veszprem in Hungary.<o></o>

He is buried in the tomb of the war cemetery Mattersburg.

Malkomes received his KC for the fighting occurred during the English offensive Goodwood.

Operation Goodwood:

the 2. Kompanie of the panzer regiment under the command of SS-Oberstumfuhrer Hans Malkomes was assembled at that time in a forest south of Garcelles.
Malcomes was ordered, along with other commanders of the other companies, to attack enemy tanks to Soliers.
The 13 tanks commanded from Malkomes moved immediately towards Bourguébus. During the handling the tanks were being attacked by tanks and other enemy aircraft.
The 2 Kompanie reached the suburbs of Bourguébus at 12 after traveling most of the journey on a land devoid of natural protection.
At this point the same Malkomes decided to make a personal reconnaissance of the area in the direction of Soliers. From its survey revealed the presence of 60 enemy tanks in the south and southeast of Soliers.
Bourguébus was protected by the presence of 20 enemy tanks positioned to cover the area.
Knowing they are outnumbered, but ready to exploit the surprise effect, Malkomes decided to attach with his Panthers. The strength of the British was tenacious and sustained intervention of the artillery but Malkomes eventually prevailed and was able to take Soliers.
After the town of Soliers was taken from the 2nd Kompanie of Malkomes, the British launched a counterattack but was immediately rejected by the loads of Malkomes.
There was a British artillery bombardment and a new counter this time stronger than 50 tanks stationed along the railroad.<o></o>

What Poetschke Werner wrote in his recommendation should be this:

... In a desperate battle with heavy losses of tanks, the Kompanie of Malkomes resisted at Soliers - with determination and not frightened - and defend themselves with success.
In the hard fighting in Soliers the strong resistance of this Kompanie under heavy enemy fire in that we have enough time to establish a new front line. It takes advantage of the land along the line Hogue - Tilly. The SS-Obersturmführer has stabilized the front with the force of his personality. The glaring example of his courage was an example for each of the men of his company, especially in the focal point of the fighting, giving them the courage to endure while fighting against a force oats a number of wagons ten times higher. After the new front in the south of Soliers was occupied by soldiers quickly grouped in Malkomes was ordered to withdraw from the main line of battle. He hid himself from following his company of enemy tanks during his retreat. Malkomes was injured in both eyes during this retreat, but not treating his wounds he continued to take command of operations until the situation was stabilized.<o></o>
